SGPS Services

The SGPS provides many services to graduate and professional students at Queen's. Please take a moment to look around and see what we can do for you!

Free International Student Identity Card (ISIC)

Did you know that in addition to the travel discounts you can get by using your International Student Identity Card (ISIC) you are also eligible for commercial discounts across Kingston and Canada? Come visit us at to the SGPS Office to get your free ISIC card.

Kingston Bus Pass

SGPS members have full access to Kingston Transit. Take the bus anywhere in the city free of charge. Bus drivers will need to see your Queen's student card with a validated sticker.

Free Skate Rentals

SGPS members may borrow skates from the SGPS. We have both hockey and figure skates available in various sizes (children and adult). In order to take advantage of this service, please bring your validated student card to the SGPS Office. We generally allow skates to be borrowed for a period of 48 hours. Please direct any questions to the SGPS Front Desk (frontdesk@sgps.ca).

WalkHome

SGPS members are entitled to full use of the WalkHome service. If you would like someone to walk with you from campus to home or from home to campus, give WalkHome a call. Your student fees give you full access to this service. Contact WalkHome by telephone 613.533.9255 (613.533.WALK) or visit them in the lower ceilidh of the JDUC.

Student Life Centre (SLC)

The Student Life Centre (SLC) is the John Deutsch University Centre, the Queen's Centre, the Grey House, MacGillivray-Brown Hall, and the Macintosh-Corry Student Street. The SGPS is one of the partners in governing the organization, along with the AMS and Queen's University. SGPS members have access to all SLC services, which include room bookings, table bookings, and locker rentals. You can find out more information at their website or in the SLC Office in the JDUC. Please let us at the SGPS know if you need help with SLC bookings.

AMS/SGPS Food Centre

SGPS members are entitled to full access to the AMS/SGPS Food Centre, where fresh and non-perishable food items are available free of charge to students who find themselves unable to afford healthy food for themselves and their families. The centre is open Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The food centre is located on 218 Earl Street, MacGillivray-Brown Hall. Enter through Barrie Street entrance and then turn immediately to your left. All you need to do is present your student card. Your comfort and confidentiality is ensured. For more information, contact the Director at foodcentre@ams.queensu.ca.

Travel CUTS

The SGPS is pleased to be able to offer you the services of Travel CUTS, the full service national travel agency that specialises in student travel. Whether you need cheap international or domestic flights, rail, and bus passes, a Spring Break / Reading Week vacation, or even help with a SWAP Working Holiday or Volunteer Abroad program, Travel CUTS can help.

UFile

The Canadian Federation of Students has been able to negotiate a FREE deal on tax filing for our member locals through UFile.ca. The service is available in English and in French. In order to keep this free service, we need to make sure that our members are gaining access to the site. Please click on the links to gain access to the system in either of the languages.
