The Graduate and Professional Student Council acts as the legislative body of the Society. Its
decisions are final, unless they are amended or rejected by referendum or General Meeting. It is
responsible for directing and overseeing the activities of the Executive, for formulating and authorizing
Society policies, and for acting as a liaison between the Executive and the ordinary members of the
Society. The decisions of the Executive may be amended or rejected by a majority vote of Council.
Representatives from each department or school sit on Council to act as a liason
between the SGPS and all graduate and professional students. Aboriginal and
international student representatives also sit on Council.
We welcome all graduate and professional students to attend Council meetings.
